Frequently Asked Questions

IV Sedation For Patients Questions about Mobile IV Sedation?

What is Dental IV Sedation?

Dental IV sedation is a semi-conscious state that results in reduced anxiety, pain, awareness, and recall.
IV sedative medications, such as Midazolam and Fentanyl, are administered via a "titrate to effect protocol" to create a relaxed environment during the dental treatment. Additional medications Like Propofol can be administered to induce dental sedation in some instances.

How is the Medication Administered?

The dental sedative and anaesthetic medications are typically given intravenously (IV sedation). Since the effects are so smooth and rapid via this means of administrations, our team can precisely administer and adjust the correct amounts of the medications to make you relaxed and comfortable. Also, if additional medications or adjuncts are necessary during and for the dental treatment, the IV allows easy administration of these medications.

Is Dental Anaesthesia Safe?

Due to the advanced hospital and dental sedation training of our team and our commitment to your overall health, his administration of sedation and anaesthesia for dentistry has a superb record of safety

Additionally, in Australia, a special sedation endorsement is required to administer IV medications. In order to qualify, advanced training in dental sedation and additional university exams are required. Our team has successfully completed this process. We are also equipped and trained to handle any emergency situations.

Do We Provide Dental Treatment?

We have dedicated our practice strictly to dental anaesthesiology (IV Sedation) and do not provide any dental treatment.

However, our team has had the honor of practicing with some of the most professional, caring, and skilled dentists and dental specialists. We would be glad to give you a great referral.

How am I Monitored During the Treatment?

Depending upon the depth of dental sedations and your medical condition, various state of the art monitors are used. These include the automatic blood pressure cuff, ECG, precordial stethoscope and pulse-oximeter. The pulse-oximeter measures the oxygen concentration in your blood through a light sensor. At times a Capnography will be used to measure your carbon dioxide levels.

We will closely observe you throughout your entire treatment and recovery.
